Mumbai, Dec 22 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today affirmed the order of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to send the two minor girls, rescued from a bar at Chembur, to the Government's Special Home for Child Rehabilitation at Deonar.

Justice Ranjana Desai was hearing a petition filed by the girls' parents seeking their custody.

One of the girls, who was earlier rescued in 2004 and handed over to her father, was again rescued on March 22 along with the other minor. Her medical report, submitted by the Nair Hospital, stated that her age was 18 years, maybe more or less by six months.

The petitioner's counsel Rajendra Pai contended that as she was a major, she could be released from the juvenile home.

However, Chief Public Prosecutor, Satish Borulkar opposed the contention, submitting that for the welfare of the child, she be considered a minor as per the hospital report and sent to the rehabilitation home.

The court stated that if the parents wish to take custody of the girls, they must apply to the CWC before January 3.
