Govt to acquire 162 acres for airport expansion

Kozhikode, Dec 22 (UNI) The Kerala Government will soon acquire 162 acres of land for development of the Karippur International Airport near here, State Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem today said.

Talking to newspersons after presenting ISO certificate to the Calicut Air Complex attached to the Kerala State Industrial Enterprises, he said the land to be acquired in and around the airport would be handed over to the Airport Authorities of India (AAI) for undertaking expansion work.

The Compensation for the proposed acquisition would be paid by the government, he said, adding a high-level committee had been formed to oversee the proposed plan.

The certificate was handed over to KSIE chairman Mammen Iype.
