Former Hurriyat chairman, PDP leader bereaved

Srinagar, Dec 22 (UNI) Former Hurriyat Chairman Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat and senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and ex-Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir were bereaved yesterday, family members said today.

Prof Bhat's cousin and brother-in-law Khwaja Abdul Rahim Bhat passed away at Botengo in Sopore area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir last night.

His funeral was held at the ancestral graveyard today.

Mr Mir's mother Sitara Begum also died yesterday at Jammu. Her body will be flown here today for burial at the ancestral graveyard at Heriwatno in Tangmarg area of Baramulla district.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed grief over the death of Mr Mir's mother. Mr Azad expressed sympathies with Mr Mir and other members of the bereaved family.
