FICCI signs MoU with govt to promote consumer care

New Delhi, Dec 22: Industry chamber FICCI has joined hands with the government and the consumer community to launch a dedicated centre for promotion of responsible business for consumer satisfaction -- FICCI Alliance for Consumer Care (FACC).

Signaling corporate India's commitment to social responsibility, particularly its responsiveness to consumers' needs and rights, FICCI and the Department of Consumer Affairs today initiated a comprehensive MoU for the promotion of responsible business for consumer satisfaction, as the Government kicks off celebrations of the National Consumer Day on December 24.

FACC will be the platform for facilitating prompt redressal of consumer complaints through voluntary self-regulation and consumer education.

The alliance will seek to integrate the consumer-business project with the existing services/agencies and projects of the Department of Consumer Affairs; provide transparent, efficient and prompt online and physical services to the business community and consumers; provide training and industry's capacity to handle consumer related issues and consumer rights; create a resource centre and promote activities in support /combined with the multimedia campaign of the Department of Consumer Affairs.

FACC has been designed to foster the highest ethical relationship between businesses and the public through voluntary self-regulation, consumer and business education, and service excellence.
