Bangalore, Dec 22 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Assembly N Dharam Singh today indicated that the Congress will take suitable disciplinary action against former minister R Roshan Baig, who had defied the party's directive to quit from the Joint House Committee on land grabbing and endorsing its interim report.

He told newspersons here that Mr Bai's action has been reported to the Karnataka Pradesh Congres Committee for taking suitable action against him.

Mr Singh said the party has taken a principal stand to stay away from the proceedings of the Joint House Committee constituted to probe into alleged land grabbing land in and around Bangalore city belonging to government following Assembly Speaker's refusal to nominate the names of legislators into the Committee as recommended by the Congress Party.

Mr Baig, while defying the party directive to step down from the committee, participated in the JHC meetings and endorsed its interim report submitted to Karnataka Speaker yesterday.

Mr Singh said he had orally instructed Mr Baig to honour the party's directions which he had chosen to ignore and this amounted to gross violation of the party discipline and hence he had communicated to the party's higher ups for initiating action against him.

KPCC President Mallikarjuna Kharge who also present said the party would take suitable action against Mr Baig after receiving report from the Congress Legislature Party Leader.

Earlier both the leaders met Union Defence Minister A K Antony who was on his first visit to the city after becoming Defence Minister. Both Mr Kharfe and Singh described it as an courteous call and no political discussions took place with the central leader who was incharge of Karnataka party affairs.
