Congress MLA granted bail

Bettiah, Dec 22 (UNI) A local court today granted bail to Khursheed Alam, Congress MLA from Sikta, and two others in connection with a case of creating obstructions during the 1991 Bihar Lok Sabha Election.

All the accused had surrendered before the court yesterday and were sent to jail. The accused had filed a surrender-cum-bail petition before the court yesterday itself.

While hearing the bail application, first class judicial magistrate Ramesh Chandra Malviya granted bail to Mr Alam, Shamim Akhtar, a Congress candidate from here in Bihar Assembly elections held last year and a contractor Sonu Jha.

The court directed all the accused to furnish sureties of Rs 5000 each.

According to the FIR, the accused allegedly misbehaved with the officials of the Siwan district administration who were assigned the election work.
