Chhota Shakeel aide killed in encounter

Mumbai, Dec 22: An associate of underworld don Chhota Shakeel was killed in an encounter with police at Milan subway, Vile Parle in western suburbs early today.

Acting on a tip-off that deceased, Shahnavaj Anwar Ahmed Khan (25), a close aide to Chhota Shakeel, would come to carry out a robbery near Milan Subway, the Anti Robbery Squad (ATR), led by senior Inspector Vijay Salskar, laid a trap at the spot.

At around 0030 hrs Khan came to the spot, police identified him and asked to surrender. Instead of surrendering, he fired two rounds of bullets from a .25 bore foreign made pistol towards the police team.

Khan suffered chest and head injuries in the counter fire. He was later, taken to J J Hospital, where doctors declared him dead before admission.

A total of 10 cases of extortion, robbery, murder, rioting and others were registered against Khan in the jurisdiction of Mumbai Police Commissionerate.
