Berhampur University declare closed sine die after unruly scenes

Berhampur, December 22 (UNI) The Berhampur University authorities today handed over the campus to police and declared closed sine die after unruly scenes broke following a clash among the students.

The authorities had sealed all the hostels and asked the students to vacate the campus.

Special transport arrangements were made by the University authorities to allow the students to go to their home.

Police force had been deployed in the campus to avoid any untoward incident.

Berhampur University Vice-Chancellor Prof Jaya Krushna Baral dubbed the situation as unfortunate and asked the police to maintain law and order.

According to Berhampur Superintendent of Police Dayal Gangwar, the situation inside the campus was now under control and peaceful.

Deputy Superintendent of Police B P Padhi had been deputed to supervise the law and order situation.

Police said the student groups having alliance with the NSUI clashed with the Chatra BJD which later turned more violent forcing the authorities to declare the University sine die.
