Mangalore, Dec 22: Samajwadi Party Karnataka unit President and former Chief Minister S Bangarappa today claimed that the JD(S) would withdraw support to the coalition Government in the State once its Chief Ministership tenure of 20 months ended.

Addressing newspersons here, he said the JD(S) would not hand over power to the BJP as per the agreement reached between the coalition partners. Besides, the allies were confronting with each other on several issues and the intra-party conflict in the BJP also hit governance and development works.

Referring to the controversy over not inviting the Chief Minister for the inaugural of the 73rd All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelan, Mr Bangarappa felt that controversies should be kept away from the Sammelan. Though the Chief Minister was usually invited to inaugurate the Sammelan, there was no protocol as the Kannada Sahitya Parishat was not a Government body. With the sole aim of development of Kannada, all should attend the conference, he added.

Stating that he was touring various districts to strengthen his party, he said that based on the situation, the party might go in for understandings with parties other than the BJP, Congress and JD(S).
