TRS charge of not allocating funds to Telangana refuted
Hyderabad, Dec 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Panchayati Raj Minister J C Diwakar Reddy today refuted the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders charge that the department was not allocating sufficient funds for the Telangana region.
In fact, the government had allotted more funds for Telangana region, including many irrigation projects than Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, he told mediapersons outside the assembly.
Giving details of the funds allocated for various regions, including irrigation projects, he said the government had spent Rs 1,647 crore in Telangana, Rs 763 crore in Rayalaseema and Rs 1,252 crore in Andhra region.
The Government's objective was to develop the state without showing any regional imbalance, he added.
He said the Panchayat Raj Department had taken up works worth Rs 926.32 crore in the last 30 months while the TDP had spent only Rs 569.11 crore during the last nine years.
Stating that the government had taken a special interest for Telangana region with a view to developing the region in every sector, he said the TRS leaders were making 'baseless' allegations to gain political mileage.
