TN: Spotted deer dies a painful death
Chennai, Dec 21: A seven-year-old male spotted deer weighing about 55 kg died a painful death early today when it attempted to jump over the main gate of a bank official's house at suburban East Tambaram.
Police said the deer fell on the pointed edges of the iron gate and in the process got killed.
The deer had come out of the nearby forest area in search of food and attempted to jump the compound wall. When it failed, it tried to vault over the gate.
The inmates of the house who noticed the dead deer on the gate sought their neighbours and Tamabram Municipality DMK Councilor Kalaiselvi Jothikumar's help.
She in turn informed the matter to the Police and the Forest Department.
On information, the Forest officials rushed to the scene and conducted the post-mortem on the spot. The carcass was later taken away for disposal.
