Rs 77 cr package for floods hit textile industry

New Delhi, Dec 21 (UNI) The government today approved a Rs 77 crore package for the textile industry affected by floods, especially in Surat.

The package, cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), will consist of Rs 55 crore for the looms affected by floods and Rs 22 crore as working capital.

In other approvals, the Union Cabinet gave its nod for the setting up of a joint electricity regulatory commission for union territories except Delhi, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters after the Cabinet and CCEA meetings.
