PM to open Indian Science Cong in TN on Jan 3

Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, Dec 21: The 94th Indian Science Congress will be inaugurated on January 3 by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Annamalai University, while President A P J Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the Children's Science Exhibition on January 5, Vice Chancellor L B Venkatrangan said.

It was for the first time the meet was being held in a rural area, a press note quoting Dr Venkatrangan said here yesterday.

Elaborate arrangements have been made to host around 5,000 delegates, 250 foreign visitors, two Nobel Laureates and nearly 2,000 university guests.

For the first time in its history, the Congress would be telecasted live globally.

The Vice-Chancellor also said 23 committees had been formed to co-ordinate the work related to the Congress. The meet would conclude on January seven.
