One child killed, 6 others injured in mishap near Chandrapur

Nagpur, Dec 21 (UNI) An eight-year old girl was killed and six other children injured, four of them seriously, when a dumper slammed head-on into an auto-rickshaw, in which they were travelling at Ballarshah, about 175 kms from here today.

Shruti Meshram, who sustained grievous injuries in the mishap, succumbed to her wounds later in the day at a hospital in Nagpur, police said. Shruti was among the five children injured seriously in the mishap.

The accident occurred this morning when the dumper hit the auto-rickshaw while negotiating a turn.

The driver of the dumper Kailsah Koyarkar has been arrested, police said.

Earlier, enraged residents blocked vehicular traffic at the accident spot and also tried to set the truck afire. However, police managed to disperse them and additional police personnel have been deployed.
