OIL to take all possible steps to set up Gas Cracker project
Guwahati, Dec 21 (UNI) The All Asom Students Union (AASU) has claimed that the Oil India Limited(OIL) will take all possible steps to set up proposed the Gas Crackers project in Asom at the earliest.
ASSU advisor Sammujjal Bhattacharjya, president Saknar Prasad Rai and general secretary Tapan Kumar Baruah told medipersons here today that they had got the assurance to this effect from OIL Managing Director M R Pasrijar.
AASU representatives and senior OIL officials met here last night to iron out some differences and doubts regarding setting up of the Gas Cracker project, sanctioned by the Centre as per Asom Accord.
OIL was one of the stake-holders for the implementation of the project. Gas Authority of India and Numaligarh Refinery were other two stake holders in the proposed project.
AASU leaders further said the OIL Managing Director had also assured that the proposed survey to be carried out on the Brahmaputra for exploration of oil and natural gas would remain suspended till the expert committee, to be set up by the ASSU, submitted its report.
It had also been agreed in principle that a Petroleum Institute would be set up in Asom soon to impart proper training for the local youths so that they could be suitably appointed in the project in due course of time, they added.
