New CEO of Prasar Bharati selected: name to be announced later

New Delhi, Dec 21 (UNI) The new CEO of public broadcaster Prasar Bharati was decided today but a formal announcement is to be made later.

A Committee, headed by Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, which makes selection to the post, met here this evening to consider the names shortlisted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. After Mr K S Sarma's retirement on June 30 this year, no full time CEO has been appointed so far.

However, since the I and B Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi is out of the country, a formal announcement will have to wait, a highly placed source in the Ministry told UNI.

After Mr Sarma's retirement the post was additionally held by Mr Navin Kumar, DG Doordarshan, but he retired in August.

Thereafter, Mr Brijeshwar Singh, DG, All India Radio took over holding the post as an additional charge.

Finally, the selection Committee under the chairmanship of the Vice-President met here this evening and agreed upon a name.

Besides the Vice-President, Secretary Information and Broadcasting and Chairman, Press Council of India are Members of the committee.
