Naxal situation in Chhattisgarh deliberated in Home Ministry

New Delhi, Dec 21 (UNI) A high-level meeting was held in the Home Ministry today to discuss the naxal situation in Chhattisgarh which is a major centre of naxal violence in the country.

The meeting, chaired by Mr Vinay Kumar, Additional Secretary incharge of naxalism in the Home Ministry, deliberated in detail the situation in the state which account for the maximum number of naxal incidents and highest casualties of civilians this year.

The meeting is significant in view of the National Commission for Women recently recommending that 'Salwa Judum' should be disbanded in view of large scale exploitation of women in its camps.

The NCW has demanded an immediate end to the campaign involving young boys and girls.

It has suggested rehabilitation of 'Salwa Judum' activists in their villages, immediate end to the campaign, providing basic amenities and training in alternative livelihood, compensation to all women and children who have lost their kin or homes and legal aid for all 41 women undertrials in the Jagdalpur jail.
