Megh Dy CM to visit Indo-Bangla border
Shillong, Dec 21 (UNI) A high-level delegation comprising of Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Donkupar Roy and representatives of Coordination Committee on International Border (CCIB) will visit state's Dawki village, bordering Indo-Bangla border, tomorrow to make on-the-spot verification of the fencing work.
The delegation will visit interior parts and inspect boundary pillars erected along the border covering Dawki, Borhil and Lyngkhat before constructing the barbed fence in these areas, official sources said.
The government decided to jointly make on-the-spot verification following CCIB's demand to keep in abeyance the fencing work after the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) for erecting fence in disputed areas.
State Chief Minister J D Rymbai recently told the assembly that fencing of the border along Meghalaya's Indo-Bangla border was not satisfactory, as the NBCC did not maintain the prescribed guidelines of the union government in the erection of the fence. UNI RRK PC RN1525
