Karnataka govt releases funds for Belgaum, Gulbarga Airports
Bangalore, Dec 21 (UNI) Karnataka government has released Rs 6.4 crore for upgradation of the Belgaum Airport besides Rs One Crore for land acquisition for airport in Gulbarga to improve infrastructure for more civil aviation destinations in the state.
State Tourism and Infrastructure Minister B Sriramulu told newspersons here that the government has also released Rs 25 crore in addition to Rs 10 crore recently to the Railways for the Kottur-Harihar new Broadguage railway line project.
The State government has far released Rs 44.24 Crore towards its share of the investment on cost sharing projects taken up with Railways jointly, he added.
Mr Sriramulu said that the government had sought the Railways to change the investment pattern for the projects at 50 per cent as against two-third of the investment being borne by the State government.
Since the Railways was earning good profits, they could afford to spend 50 per cent as against one-third currently provided, he added.
He further added the State had sought Railways to hasten the electrification of Bangalore-Mysore track.
He said the State government has also released Rs 15 crore for taking up road over bridges and under bridges across the state.
