Jugraj steals show in Romesh Hockey with fine hat trick

Jalandhar, Dec 20 (UNI) a fine hat trick by drag flicker Jugraj Singh was the highlight of Punjab Police's 4-2 win against Border Security Force (BSF) in their league match in the 9th Romesh Chander Memorial Hockey Tournament here today.

Jugraj, who posted four goals yesterday against Rail Coach Factory, put up another fine show today and converted all three penalty corners which came in the police team's way during the course of the match.

The winners opened their account through Gagandeep Singh's fine field goal but soon after BSF's Habil Topno drew level with an equally good field goal. After that, Jugraj took charge and scored three goals in a space of about 20 minutes(4-1). The last goal for the BSF was scored by Varinderjit Singh on a penalty stroke.

Meanwhile, Punjab and Sindh Bank(P&SB) and Sher-e-Jalandhar shared points in their league match which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Sher-e-Jalandhar took the lead through Ganganajit in the 26th minute with a specatacular field goal. But Daler Singh of the bank team secured the equaliser in 48th minute through a penalty corner.

Interesting feature in the match was that five star players Davinderpal Singh, Baljit Saini, Davinder Singh, Parminder Singh and Maninder Singh who used to play for P&SB team are playing in this tournament for Sher-e-Jalandhar team and today they were pitted against their own team. Sher-e-Jalandhar is presently gearing itself up for the Premier Hockey League.

Meanwhile,in another league match, Corps of Signals registered their first victory in the tournament defeating Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala by 4-2.
