HCL offers 'Beanstalk' PC series, aims 2 mln units by end-07

New Delhi, Dec 21 (UNI) Embarking on the entertainment PCs, HCL Infosystems Ltd today launched new series of PCs -- Beanstalk -- ushering a new revolution in the gaming portfolio and plans to increase its capacity to two million units by the end of next year in its Puducherry and Rudrapur plants.

The four PCs launched in the Beanstalk series include Nano priced at Rs 64,000, Lyfestyle at Rs 54,000, Dominator at Rs 49,000 and the Slim model is priced at Rs 29,900.

''The new PCs being launched are having very high computing facility for the gaming purpose. Alongwith, gaming is possible with the PC,'' company Chairman and CEO Ajai Chowdhry told reporters here.

Among the 37 million Internet users in the country, there are 1.6 million gamers and seven million of them play these games online, Mr Chowdhry said adding that the new PCs will act as a digital appliance which fits into the lifestyle scenario.

These new products will be available in the 25 HCL digi life stores spread across the country which would be increased to 100 by the end of next year.

Mr Chowdhry said, in addition the products will be available in company's 600 retail outlets and will also be displayed in major reatil stores in metros.

The company's current capacity in the Puducherry plant has touched a million units and two lakh at Rudrapur plant. The new series of products will be equally produced in both the plants.

The company has selected NVIDIA technology to drive its extreme gaming PC. The system includes nForce-Intel edition chipset, 2 X NVIDIA GeForce 7900GT GPUs and Microsoft Windows Media centre edition.
