CJI Appointment File With President Kalam

New Delhi, Dec 21 (UNI) Three weeks before India's Chief Justice Yogesh Kumar Sabharwal is due to retire, no official announcement has been made about his successor.

He has long been expected to be replaced by the Supreme Court's senior most Judge, Justice Konakuppakatil Gopinathan Balakrishanan, who is a Dalit.

But one Ministry source said the file dealing with the matter ''is with the President''.

An announcement may not be until next week, the source indicated.
