BSNL to provide 2 MB broadband at Rs 250 per month
New Delhi, Dec 21 (UNI) State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today announced it will provide broadband up to 2 MB at Rs 250 per month from January 1, 2007.
Till now the bandwidth was available to broadband customers at 256 Kbps, which has been increased by almost eight times now, an official statement said here.
While download has been increased by 2.5 times at almost half the cost, about 8.2 lakh customers will be upgraded for the speed up to 2 Mbps, the statement added.
Besides, the downloading limits under the company's home 250 and business 700 plans have been enhanced to one GB and four GB from 400 MB and two MB respectively.
Under the 250 plan, customers will get a benefit of Rs 840 per month for one GB limit and Business plan 700 will offer customers a benefit of Rs 2,400 per month for limits up to four GB.
BSNL has also decided to reduce the per MB downloading rates from 1.40 per MB to Rs 0.90 per MB plan.
Meanwhile, BSNL has also reduced the fixed ADSL modem charges from Rs 100 to Rs 60 per month.
