B'lore: Antony to inaugurate new CAIR campus
Bangalore, Dec 21: Defence Minister A K Antony will inaugurate the new campus of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) complex here tomorrow.
The campus, to come up in 15 acres, would have four major buildings -- Technology, Secure Systems, Systems and Administrative Blocks.
Mr Antony, who would be making his maiden visit to the city after taking over the defence portfolio, would also be meeting Congress workers later in the day.
CAIR, established in 1986, focused initially on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Control Systems. CAIR was currently developing a number of data mining tools using Artificial Intelligence and neural networks and was building software libraries to create a data miner's toolbox.
The centre had also developed and provided a number of technological solutions/products for the civilian sector, including automatic processing of handwritten application forms, intelligent wheel chair for the physically challenged, SCARA Robots for educational institutions, laparoscopic surgery trainer and robots for non-destructive testing.
