6 fishermen hospitalised, three missing as boat capsizes

Chennai, Dec 21 (UNI) Six fishermen were hospitalised and three reported missing when their boats capsized in the rough sea off the Marina coast near here today.

Police said the fishermen from Ayothyakuppam hamlet had ventured into the sea in two boats early this morning.

The accident occurred near the coast when the two boats were caught in a giant wave while returning.

A group of fishermen rushed to the spot and rescued Dasarathan, Krishnan, Andi, Vajravelu, Kritti and Dasappan.

They were admitted to the Government Royapettah Hospital.

The fishermen were out of danger, hospital sources said.

Police said efforts were on to trace the three other missing fishermen.
