5 children injured in mishap near Chandrapur

Nagpur, Dec 21 (UNI) Five children were seriously injured today when a truck collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling at Ballarshah, in Chandrapur district of the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, about 175 km from here.

Chandrapur district Superintendent of Police Mr Ravindra Kadam told UNI, that the truck hit the auto-rickshaw while it was negotiating a turn. The injured five children have been rushed to a hospital in Chandrapur for treatment, he disclosed.

Meanwhile, enraged residents blocked traffic for a while at the accident spot and also tried to torch the truck. However, the police took control of the situation and dispersed the crowd. Additional forces have been deployed at the spot, Mr Kadam added.
