MCD to survey mixed use roads in A and B colonies with RWAs approval

New Delhi, Dec 20 (UNI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will carry out survey of mixed use roads in A and B colonies with permission from the Resident Welfare associations, as provided for in the September 7 notification by the Union Urban Development Ministry.

Speaking at a meeting of the Standing committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, chairman Jai Kishen Sharma said,''survey of the mixed land use roads in A and B colonies should be done wherever a no-objection certificate has been granted in this regard by the RWAs of the area, as per the provisions in the September 7 notification of the Urban Development Ministry.'' The statement came after Leader of the House Jitender Kochar said the MCD should set in motion process for surveying mixed use roads in A and B colonies as RWAs in many of these areas had granted permission for doing so.

Earlier, in a statement in the meeting, MCD Commissioner A K Nigam said the corporation was carrying out a survey of mixed land roads in areas other than falling under the 2183 roads already notified by the Delhi Government on September 15.

''Four zones have already been surveyed while the survey work in the remaining zones is on. On our part, we want to complete the process of designating list of mixed use roads after which the Delhi government can approach the Supreme Court for notifying these areas,''Mr Nigam said.

However, he said survey of mixed use roads in A and B could not be done without permission of the RWAs of these areas as stipulated in the September 7 Urban Development Ministry notification.

Meanwhile, many members of the committee called for an extension of the December 31 deadline for online registration of the roperties falling under mixed land use, which had been initiated by the corporation since December 1.

Many members said a lot of confusion prevailed as to which properties could be registered under the procedure and on whether, the registration also entailed payment of conversion charges.

In a statement on the issue, commissioner Nigam said online registration of the nearly three lakh shops or properties falling under mixed use roads falling in 2183 notified roads, shops below 20 m and those run by professionals are to be registered before the December 31 deadline fixed by the Supreme Court in its September 29 order.

''The introduction of online registration was done to speed up the process of registration whereby the owners or occupiers of the said properties can register their units from their homes or from a nearby cyber cafes. However, no conversion charges have to be paid now as the deadline for paying the same is June 30 next years,''Additional commissioner Parimal Rai said.

He also clarified that the online registration was not for non-notified roads.
