Mr Reddy, who was referring to the police lathicharge on CPI(M)-led Students Federation of India (SFI) and CPI activists in Visakhapatnam, said the police was observing maximum restraint and used force only to disperse them on December 13.
As many as 13 police personnel and 14 SFI activists were injured and taken to a hospital in the incident.
Yesterday in Visakhapatnam, the CPI activists planned to lay a siege to the Food Corporation of India godown and when they were stopped at a distance, they tried to loot a grocery shop alleging that it was resorting to black marketing.
The police inquiry revealed that one case was pending against the shop ten years ago. But no case was pending against it now.
Coinciding with the Assembly session, the CPI, TDP, CPI and the CPI (M), among other parties, had tried to march towards the State Assembly violating prohibitory orders. The Police dispersed them without using force.
