World Buddhist Leaders Council at Sarnath in an year's time
Varanasi, Dec 19 (UNI) A state-of-the-art of World Buddhist Leaders Council (WBLC) will be established in an year's time at Sarnath here to foster the concept of global peace through the proliferation of Buddhism.
''The WBLC will serve as a centre where global leaders irrespective of their faith will meet regularly to foster the much-needed concept of global peace,'' Maha Bodhi Society of India (MBSI) president B K Modi told newspersons here today.
Individual representatives of Buddhist bodies from across the globe will be members of the WBLC, which will compliment the efforts of United Nations in furthering peace, but through the spread of Buddhism.
The resolution to establish the WBLC was passed at the three-day International Meet of Buddhist Leaders at Sarnath attended among others by Nobel laureate, the Dalai Lama. Today was the last the day of the meet.
''The UN despite its charters and regulations has failed to amicably resolve any of the 40 conflicts in various parts of the world including Kashmir, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The WBLC will attempt the peacefull resolution of all ethnic conflicts through dialogue and spread of Buddhism, which teaches universal bortherhood and tolerance,'' Dr Modi added.
