PSLV to launch four Satellites in January
Bangalore, Dec 19 (UNI) The Indian Spaceport at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota is brimming with activities for the launch of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C7) that will hurl into space for the first time, four statellites--two foreign in polar orbit.
The launch would be a pathbreaking one as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) would initiate yet another programme leading to the manned mission.
With a total payload of around 1500 kg, the main mission of PSLV C7 would be to launch the 660 kg CARTOSAT-2, an Indian Remote Sensing Satellite, for cartography purposes. The other Indian satellite would be the 610 kg Satellite Capsule Recovery Experiment (SRE).
Riding piggy back on the Indian Satellites would be a 56 kg Indonesaion satellite LAPAN TUBSAT and a small six kg Argentina University experimental payload.
The launch would be the first after the July 10 debacle when the GSLV F2 was destroyed midair after it significantly deviated from the projected path following a failure of one of the strap on stage.
