Mulayam announces sops for UP Home Guards
Lucknow, Dec 19 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh CHief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today announced a slew of sops for Home Guards on the 44th raising day of Home Guards and Civil Defence.
The CM announced that like government employees, the retirement age of home guards has also been increased from the present 58 years to 60 years. He also announced a hike of Rs 10 in the daily allowance of home guards.
Those who were getting Rs 90 per day, would now get Rs 100, while those getting Rs 95 per day would be entitled for Rs 105 per day.
Mr Yadav, while appreciating the role of home guards in maintaining day-to-day law and order ''be in on busy junctions or crowded rallies,'' also announced providing Rs 150 per month as food allowance' to home guard personnel deployed with police.
The home guards would also get 12 new buses for routine deployment in as many cities, including Lucknow, Varanasi, Allahabad and Kanpur.
He also announced an increase in the daily allowance of trainee civil defence officials from the present Rs 28 per day to Rs 45 per day. While inaugurating an officers' mess at the Home Guards headquarters here, the CM also sanctioned Rs one crore for a Civil Defence Building at Allahabad. Besides, he also sanctioned Rs 14.83 lakh for a tubewell at the home guards headquarters.
After taking salute of the impressive parade, the CM also awarded President's Grah Rakshak padak to divisional commandant, Gorakhpur A C Upadhyay.
Mr Yadav later gave away sewing machines and Rs two lakh each to the wives of home guard personnel who died in the line of duty in the last one year. These included Mrs Kamlesh, wife of Fateh Singh, Mrs Kusum, wife of Mohanveer, Mrs Shiela, wife of Puran SIngh, Mrs Seema, wife of Devendra, who was shot dead by his colleague at Bijnore and Mrs Premvada, wife of R L Pathak.
