IT revolution a challenge for police: Apang
Umsaw, Dec 19 (UNI) Globalisation and technological revolutions have contributed to the difficulties of the police force in investigation and detection of crimes, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang said.
''Unlike in the past, technology, too, has become a great tool in the hands of the criminals and crime syndicates,'' the Chief Minister said, addressing the Passing out Parade of the 29th batch of basic course of Deputy Superintendents of Police and Sub Inspectors at North Eastern Police Academy (NEPA) here today.
Noting the fast growth in the Information Technology has also made it easier for the people to commit economic offences, Mr Apang urged the investigative agencies to keep themselves ahead of those bent on violating the laws of the land.
On tackling terrorism, the Chief Minister said this is another big challenge for the security agencies in the country as the problem was not confined to one state or country.
''The challenge of tackling terrorism calls for high degree of intelligence, common sense and constant vigilance,'' he said.
Earlier, Director of NEPA T Pachuau said policing in the North Eastern states, having 4000 kms of international border and insurgency activities is difficult, when compared to other parts of the country.
However, he said the police from the region leave no stone unturned to provide security to the people of the region.
Altogether, 59 officers (five Deputy Superintendents of police and 54 Sub-Inspectors) from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram and Sikkim passed out from NEPA.
