Order of Merit leader Bakshi to lead field in junior golf tourney
Mumbai, Dec 18 (UNI) Order of Merit leader in the senior most 'A' category Rahul Bakshi, who already has five Sunfeast title wins under his belt, will lead the field when the cream of the country's junior golfers will tee off at the Sunfeast Western India Junior/Sub-Junior Golf Championship at the par-70 Bombay Presidency Golf Club here from December 19.
The tournament, the eighth leg of the Sunfeast Junior/Sub-Junior Golf Tour, will see Bakshi facing a stiff challenge from second-ranked Jaipur's Amanjyot Singh, who recently won the Sunfeast Eastern India Junior and Sub Junior Golf Championship in Kolkata.
In the 'B' category, Kolkata's Rommel Majumdar, Delhi's Aneesh Gupta and Chandigarh's K Raghav Bhandari (who incidentally won the Sunfeast Chandigarh Junior/Sub-Junior Golf Championship in October 2006) will be the golfers to watch.
The category to look out for will be 'C', where Ashbeer Saini (Kapurthala) winner in the category of the Golden Greens Junior/Sub-Junior and Sunfeast Chandigarh Junior/Sub-Junior events), will meet an equal in the talented Ankur Chadha (Delhi).
Bangalore's Akash Srinivasan (winner in his category of the Golden Greens Junior/Sub-Junior) will be the one to watch out for in the junior most 'D' category.
Giving him a run for his money will be Delhi's Vidit Singh, who has wins at the Noida Junior/Sub Juniors and the Sunfeast Northern India Junior/Sub-Juniors.
The compact Bombay Presidency Golf Club will pose a stiff challenge to the golfers, who will have to dig deep into their reserves to come out triumphant in India's biggest junior golfing stage.
