Mulayam asks all departments to fulfill their target by Jan, 2007
Lucknow, Dec 18 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today directed all the government departments to fulfill their revenue collection targets by January 2007 as after that the state will be in ''election mode.'' Monitoring the revenue collection by different departments here, Mr Yadav said as after January, all the state officials would be busy in the assembly polls, hence the departments should ensure they fulfill the revenue collection targets by next month.
The CM also appreciated the trade tax, stamp registration, excise and entertainment tax departments for making good revenue collection till November last.
Principal secretary (Finance) Shekhar Agarwal, briefing the CM on the revenue collections said against the target of Rs 24,350 crore the departments had collected Rs 14617 crore till November. The collection till November, 2006 was 28 per cent more than the amount collected during the last fiscal till November.
He said excise department has achieve 103 per cent collection target till November while trade tax department achieved 99.4 per cent,transport department 86 per cent, entertainment tax department 92.4 per cent, stamps and registration department 121 per cent and land revenue department 97.9 per cent.
