Minority Forum calls for boycotting marriage of dowry

Kolkata, Dec 18 (UNI) All India Minority Forum today demanded safeguarding of minority communites, including Hindus of Kashmir, and called for boycotting of marriages of dowry.

AIMF president Idris Ali while observing International Minority Day today appealed to both Centre and state government to ensrue protection of life, property of the minorities and places of their religious interest. He also demanded implementation the suggestion of Sachchar Committee.

Mr Ali in a statement called for boycotting all marriages where dowry was taken amd said the marriage registrar should shun from registering of those marriages.

Citing example, he said although dowry is prohibited in Islam, but many muslim bridegrooms are taking such dowry in marriage as a result many girls of the muslim community have to remain unmarried.

He also called for a sustained movment against dowry system.
