KMC puts ban on use of Jayprabha Studio land for commercial purposes

Kolhapur, Dec 18 (UNI) The general body meeting of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) today approved a resolution, restricting the use of land of Jayparabha Studio for cultural purpose only.

Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, the owner of the studio, had recently sold about seven acre of the total eleven acres land for commercial purposes. The move was opposed by the various political parties, social organisations, corporators and citizens.

The resolution was moved by ruling group as well as the opposition, which was passed by the house. Mayor Sai Kharade had presided over the meeting.

Jayprabha Studio is closly associated with the Marathi film industry. It should be kept in tact for cultural purpose only, most of the corporators said and finally adopted the resolution.
