HC directs police to file statement on anti-piracy raids
Kochi, Dec 18 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today directed the state police to file a statement on the raids conducted at Riyan Studio, run by the wife of an IPS officer here.
A division bench comprising Justices J B Koshy and Padmanabhan Nair gave this direction after the Director-General of Prosecution submitted before the court that during the raid 47 CDs, including three CDs without the Censor Board's certificate, were seized.
He also submitted that nothing illegal was done during the raids.
The DGP's submission was made while the court was hearing a petition filed by Mrs Anitha T Thachankary, wife of IPS officer Tomin J Thachankary.
Mrs Anitha, who owns Riyan Optical Discs, has petitioned the court for a direction to the police not to harass her or her employees. She also sought to be allowed to deliver the manufactured CDs to the respective copyright owners and asked for permission to recommence the normal manufacturing process in her establishment.
