Haryana Finance Minister Birender Singh said the state government was committed to improve the socio-economic condition of the farming community and was extending credit to them as per their requirements.

He said the state government had reduced the interest rate of cooperative short term loans from 11 to seven per cent .

Mr Singh expressed the hope that the borrowers pertaining to the cooperative loaning institutions would also extend a helping hand by discharging their obligations promptly to avail more benefits for themselves.

The Finance Minister also called upon the farming community to keep the cooperative banking system of the state in a good financial position as a weak banking structure could adversely affect the borrowers.
