Govt to raise retirement age of medical college teachers
Patiala, Dec 18 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today announced that the notification for raising the retirement age of the faculty members of the state Medical Colleges from 58 to 62 years would be issued shortly.
Presiding over the fund raising jointly organized by Gomco Alumni Meet and CME here at the Government Medical College, Capt Singh called upon the voluntary and non-government organizations to come forward and motivate the people to donate liberally for this public cause to save the precious lives inflicted by serious injuries and trauma in fatal accidents. He said that the government had already made a initial contribution of Rs one crore and given an acre of land within the compounds of Rajindra Hospital, here to start this immensely important social welfare project at an expected cost of Rs 50 crore.
He also announced a personal contribution of Rs five lakh on the occasion.
