Farmers in Ganganagar renew agitation for water

Sriganganagar, Dec 18 (UNI) Farmers in Phase I areas of Indira Gandhi Canal Project in Rajasthan have planned a massive meeting in Anoopgarh tomorrow.

The police and district administration are taking precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident in view of the rally.

Top administrative and police officials will be present in Anoopgarh tomorrow to monitor the situation.

Kisan Mazdoor Vyapari Sangharsh Samiti is organising the meet To garner support for this proposed meet, senior farmer leaders including Sant Lekha Singh, Vallabh Kocher, Sohan Nayak Sheopatram Meghawal today held several small meetings in villages in Ganganagar district.

Meanwhile, the police have intensified its efforts to apprehend the agitating farmers. The police today arrested one protestor Sitaram from 20 P village in Ghadsana, who has been named in the FIR for hurling stones at the police on Oct 16 in Ghadsana.

Sitaram would be produced in court tomorrow.
