Entrepreneurship is a state of mind: Vijaya Mallya

Mumbai, Dec 18: For United Breweries Chairman Dr Vijaya Mallaya, entrepreneurship is a state of mind and is not limited to someone who creates business.

Delivering his inaugural speech at the TiE (The Indus Etrepreneurs) Summit here last evening, Dr Mallya said ''I personally believe that all of us, by and large, are made of same entrepreneurship level of mind. The only thing is how we are able to tap this potential within us.'' Expressing his critical view on the existing system of including case studies in the MBA education programme being run by various management institutions, he said ''We all are able to do it on our own, maybe sometimes in the unconscious state of mind, and these subjects should be taken as case studies rather than success stories that have already been made by someone else.''

When asked about the launch of Kingfisher Airlines by his firm, Dr Mallya said ''It was quite a challenging experience given the fact that this country had very small number of air-travellers coupled with constraints like high landing and parking fees being charged by airport authorities in India.'' So, he had three points in his mind before launching it which included 'accepted', 'respected' and above all 'sustainable', he said. The only thing positive in our mind was the emergence of an entirely new breed of Indian middle class that has the disposable money in their pockets and the willingness to spend it, he said.

He advised aspiring entrepreneurs first decide before thinking of becoming a successful entrepreneur as it was indecision which often mars people to become an entrepreneur.
