Bangladesh President gives instructions for fair poll

Dhaka, Dec 18 (UNI) Bangladesh President and Chief Advisor Iajuddin Ahmed today set ten instructions for his interim administration for creating a congenial environment for free, fair, neutral and acceptable election with all-party participation.

The 10-point instructions were given to the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police in a meeting at the office of the Chief Advisor at Bangabhaban (President Office).

He called for maintaining law-and-order situation at any cost, and taking stern action against muscle power, political criminality and corruption as these are the main obstacles for free, fair, neutral and peaceful elections.

The President asked the administration to strengthen the drive to recover illegal arms and take effective steps to resist the use of these measures.

He called for ensuring the atmosphere for each voter to exercise franchise without fear and hindrance and taking steps to complete vote counting and publish the result apart from polling accurately in a transparent, fair, neutral and acceptable manner.

The President warned against any harassment of innocent people while executing the instructions for creating an environment congenial to the polls, slated for next month.

''Make sure that none suffer just on political grounds,'' he told the officials while equipping them with the tough orders.
