PCC appeals party cadre to hand over excess land
Hyderabad, Dec 17 (UNI)The Pradesh Congress Committee today called upon the party workers and leaders to hand over the excess lands, including assigned land to government for distributing them to the poor people in the state.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters' Gandhi Bhavan', after an executive committee meeting, PCC Chief Keshav Rao said the party was of the opinion that the lands which were not entitled to them should be handed over to the government.
He said taking a cue from the State Chief Minister who surrendered 310 acres of land everyone should surrender their lands to the government .
The state government was committed to distribute the lands to landless poor and dalits as promised by the government. The PCC urged the State Government to take all measures to strictly implement the Land Reforms Act.
He said the party urged the government to bring a legislation for voluntary surrender of assigned, excees and government lands, which were in the clutches of the influential people within a time-bound programme.
He said the party was of the opinion that nobody should talk on creation of separate statehood for Telenagana as Party President Sonia Gandhi was seized of the matter.
He said 'Medho Madhanam''(Brain storming session) of the party would be held here on January 4 and 5. AICC General Secretary and Incharge Andhra Affiars Digvijay Singh and State Ministers, MPs, MLAs and other senior leaders would attend the meeting.
