Opposition would get enough opportunity in the next Session:Dy CM

Mysore, Dec 17 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, turning down the opposition demand for White Paper on State's developmental activities, today said the opposition party will have enough opportunity in the next session to discuss and debate on State's financial and other matters.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that ''opposition Congress has been wasting time during the previous Sessions by raising unwanted issues and even it did not participate in the Special Session held in Belgaum. Now the government was ready to provide details on the developmental activities taken up by the Coalition government after coming to power.'' Claiming that the plan expenditure during 2006-07 has touched 43 per cent as compared to 38 per cent previous year till November, he said in PWD it was 53.44 per cent with Rs 1250 crores spent against the annual allocation of Rs 2340 crores. Rs 2258 crores were spent against Rs 4135 Crores in Medium and Small Irrigation. Until yesterday the government has spent Rs 2330 Crores on various projects other than the budget allocations, it was a record in the country. Revenue collection has increased by 31 per cent and the works taken up would be completed on a priority basis.

He said that from January One, the government would seek economic experts opinion to prepare the next year budget. A Meeting of Deputy Commissioners, Zilla Panchayat Executive Officers have been convened in Bangalore tomorrow to discuss the issue of speeding up developmental works. The Chief Minister would take up review of all the departments from December 26.
