No untoward incident in Kot Bhalwal jail: J
Srinagar, Dec 17 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police have dismissed media reports suggesting that protests broke out in Kot Bhalwal jail in the winter capital over searches in the prison premises.
In a press release here, the Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar said normal searches were conducted in Kot Bhalwal jail today.
The searches by the Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel passed off peacefully with some minor protests by inmates.
However no major untoward incident took place during the searches, the release added.
A report from Jammu earlier said tension prevailed at Kot Bhalwal jail after more than 300 prisoners, mostly militants and foreign mercenaries, refused to go back to their cells in protest against the orders by the jail administration to ''improve'' discipline in the prison campus.
