Mulayam asks lawyers to help in early disposal of cases
Lucknow, Dec 17 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today asked the lawyers to help in speedy disposal of cases pending in various courts.
Addressing a state-wide seminar of lawyers here, Mr Yadav said it was important that lawyers too pitched in help the poor by ensuring that cases pending for years are wrapped up at the earliest.
Terming the lawyers' community as an important pillar of democracy, he said they should constantly work towards strengthening democratic values in the society.
Without naming the Congress, he said the party while boasting of rule of law in the country had imposed Emergency, scuttling the basic rights of the common man.
Talking about reservation of women in legislature, the Chief Minister said while he was not against it, the right to provide reservation should be with the political parties. Parties which do not follow it should be de-recognised by the Election Commission.
''It would be better, if parties have a right to determine theseats to be reserved for women,'' he explained.
He said political parties ruled the country on the slogan of 'aaram haram hai, kam karo-kam-karo' never thought of providing employment allowance to the unemployed.
