DSGMC elections to have no bearing on Punjab polls:Badal

Jalandhar, Dec 17 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) president and former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) election, to be held next month, would have no bearing on the Punjab assembly elections, due to be held by February next.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Badal said that DSGMC election are of different nature and they are unlikely to have any impact on the assembly polls in the state.

Back home in Punjab, the SAD chief condemned Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for making undue ''hue and cry'' over cases of disproportionate income against him and his family.

Expressing displeasure over the Chief Minister's demand of day to day hearing in the cases, Mr Badal said that these were routine court cases in which no court would ask for his presence or that of his family members in the court during the hearings.

He noted that the Chief Minister had himself been charge sheeted by the court in the other case and was forced to seek bail in the court.

Mr Badal was in the city to address rallies at different places in and around the city.
