Bus torched, conductor burnt to death at Porbandar
Porbandar, Dec 17 (UNI) A conductor of a Gujarat State Transport bus was burnt to death and the driver critically wounded when miscreants torched their bus at Rojivada village near the birth-place of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi today.
The incident took place around 0200 hours when the duo were fast asleep in the bus, police said.
The conductor has been identified as Rambhai.
The critically injured driver has been admitted to a Government hospital at Porbandar where his condition is ''serious'', doctors said.
Following the gruesome incident, the Corporation employees here have gone on a flash strike.
This is the second such incident in less than a month. On November 30, an irate mob had set ablaze an ST bus at Narsangh Takeri area in the city to protest against the desecration of the bust of Dalit icon, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in Kanpur.
Investigations into the incident are on, police said.
