Tripura demands change in NE industrial policy

Agartala, Dec 16: The Tripura Government has demanded that the Centre change its Industrial policy prevalent in the North East.

During a meeting with Union Minister of state for industry and commerce Jairam Ramesh last night, state Chief Minister Manik Sarkar asked the Centre to change its policy on industrialisation in N E and introduce new policy on industry and commerce for all round development of the region.

State industry and commerce minister Tapan Chakraborty said a decision on the industrial policy for the N E region would be taken at a cabinet meeting of the Union Government on December 19 at New Delhi.

During the meeting North Eastern Council Advisor P.P.Srivastava, Union commerce ministry Secretary Rajsekharan among others were also present.
