TN CM announces cash prize for Doha medal winners

Chennai, Dec 16 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi tonight announced cash awards for medal-winning performers in the Asian Games held in Doha.

According to an official release here, Sasikiran Krishnan, gold medallist in the mixed chess event, would be awarded Rs 20 lakh.

Similarly, silver medal winners Anju Bobby George and athlete Santhi would be awarded Rs 15 lakh each.

Bronze medallist Saurav Ghosal would be honoured with Rs 10 lakh for his performance in squash.

The awards would be presented by Mr Karunanidhi at the state Secretariate on Monday.
